ImageTools

About ImageTools

ImageTools is a small set of image tools that run entirely in your browser. The first one is a HEIC to JPG converter. More tools will follow, built the same way: no account, no upload, no clutter.

How it works

When you choose files, your browser reads them locally, decodes the HEIC image with a WebAssembly decoder (or with the browser’s own decoder where it has one, as Safari does), and re-encodes it as JPG. Nothing is sent to a server for conversion.

Open-source components

HEIC decoding uses libheif and libde265, compiled to WebAssembly and packaged as libheif-js. These are licensed under the GNU LGPL v3 (license text). The decoder is served as a separate, unmodified .wasm file rather than merged into the site’s code, and you can obtain the source from the links above. ZIP creation uses fflate (MIT).
